The short answer

Compare the total you will actually pay for the same items and quantities, including delivery, taxes and other displayed charges. Count only discounts applied to that order. If reaching a coupon threshold requires buying unwanted items, calculate whether the new total is higher.

Start with your original shopping plan

Write down what you came to buy and the maximum total you wanted to spend. It is easier to judge a promotion against that small plan than against a changing set of crossed-out prices and suggested extras.

A useful offer helps you buy the right item at an acceptable total. If it pushes you toward a different item, a larger quantity, or an unplanned purchase, evaluate that as a new decision.

Compare the same item and quantity

Check size, material, included parts, and quantity before comparing prices. A photo can show several pieces while the selected option is for one. A low listed price may also belong to a different variant from the one you want.

For a multi-pack, divide the payable item price by the number of usable units. For clothing or household items, compare the measurements you need with the listing information instead of relying only on a category name.

Look for information that helps with your use case. A cheaper cable in the wrong length, or a storage box that does not fit the shelf, is still the wrong purchase.

Check the complete amount payable

At the last review step before payment, note the total including any displayed delivery, tax, or other charges. Confirm that the expected coupon reduction is actually included. Do not count a possible later reward as money already deducted.

A simple comparison: an $18 item with $6 delivery totals $24. A comparable $22 item with delivery included totals $22. The lower item price does not win that comparison.

If you change quantities, variants, shipping options, or the basket after checking, look at the final amount again. Compare equivalent delivery and product conditions when weighing another seller.

Check what the promotion requires

Read any minimum spend, maximum discount, expiry, and eligible-product conditions shown with the specific offer. If a bundle is involved, separate its headline face value from the coupon you can use on this order.

Before adding an item to reach a threshold, calculate your new total after the discount. If the new total is higher, ask whether you would have bought the additional item anyway. See the coupon bundle example for the arithmetic.

Also read the return and refund terms applicable to the item you are buying. Check the current terms in the listing and your order process; this guide does not promise any particular return window or cost.

Ask one last question

Would I still want this exact order if there were no countdown or promotional headline?

If yes, the item, total, and conditions can stand on their own. If no, take a break before ordering. You have not lost money by leaving an offer unused.

This checklist works beyond Temu. Keep the same comparison habits wherever you shop: suitable item, correct quantity, complete price, clear conditions.
